EP15: The Power of Emotionally Driven Messaging

In the realm of the digital marketing age, we can be laser-focused on the best systems and automations. The danger of operating in this frame of mind is that we can become so structured and sterilized that we are robotic in our interactions with clients and potential clients.

In an effort to be more efficient, we are becoming less human. In a service-based industry, you lose your magic when you lose your ability to tap into emotion and find genuine connection with other human beings. And that, my friends, is all that your prospective clients are: Human beings. I think we forget that sometimes.

When we box ourselves in with a rigid view of what marketing is “supposed” to be, we can lose our ability to really be ourselves in the midst of the process. Getting out of the box is as simple as reconnecting with yourself. Allowing your personality to permeate the essence of your services and messaging will draw people in.

As much as we can find ourselves disconnected from self, we can also detach from the wants and needs of our potential clients. When we get caught in the echo chamber of what we want the client to buy, we can forget that the client is an actual person who is out there. One way to overcome this hurdle is to put yourself in the client’s shoes. What do they want or need?

If you stop looking at your avatar as a statistic and allow yourself to see them as an actual individual with valid emotions and wants, it can give life to your messaging. Allow yourself to speak to one person, no matter how big or small the service.

Spend a moment taking stock of your current approach to messaging. Do you allow your personality to shine in your marketing? Do you feel like you have a good grasp of your ideal avatar? If you are less than 100% sure that you can answer “yes” to those questions, it may be time to get a fresh perspective.

Gaining an outside look at your business and marketing is invaluable. Your business is meant to transcend beyond the transactional level. You have an important message to share with the world.
