Success in Business: What’s Stopping You From Achieving it?

Does your income feel dryer than the Sahara Dessert? Okay maybe that’s an exaggeration, but the reality is it’s not where you want it to be. You would really prefer to be reaching success in business, and you don’t know what the problem is.

You’re hoping to find a checklist of things you need in order to be successful. Landing that to do list where you can knock off one through ten and watch the money start rolling in. I’m here to offer you a different perspective. A perspective that actually works. My guess is you’ve read countless checklists, but that didn’t do the trick. What is the real reason your online business isn’t making the money you want?

I’m going to pull the curtain back, shed some light, tell it like it is. 

You’re focusing on what’s wrong and not allowing grit and a growth mindset to run the show. 

This is the difference in people who achieve success in business, and those who don’t.

If you look up the definition of grit, the first thing you see is loose particles of stone or sand, that’s definitely not what I’m talking about, just to be clear. Although, making more money so you can spend more time with your feet in the sand, I could get down with that.

The grit we’re discussing is strength of character, resilience, and determination.

I believe that’s the number one reason most businesses are either failing or not making the money they want. The person running the business, is lacking is lacking the foundational mindset. Did you know over half of new businesses within the first 2 years fail?

It’s easy to get caught up in the checklists, the Instagram hacks, the social media tricks, but what actually creates income?

An exchange of value with another human being for money. Business owners achieve success in business when they do more of this.

People are spending more time trying to grow their platforms, and less time putting value into what they’re creating. They end up frustrated that things didn’t work

How does determination get you what you want? 

Because you become a person that continues to give it your all despite the circumstances. That’s how you reach your goals, become profitable, and create success in business.

I know it feels like you should be able to stumble online and find a hack. Even in the hack, you end up realizing there’s so many multi faceted layers to your business you will have to address. Having a powerful mindset in everything that you do, in order for it to work, is key.

Things are going to be challenging, but the thing is you are more than capable of handling the challenges. You’ve figured out how to handle challenges your entire life. This is no different, it’s just a new set of them.

Think of it this way, achieving success in business is handling a new series of challenges.

Entrepreneurs constantly stop before they’ve truly given themselves a chance to win.

Maybe they’ve tried the course, the checklists, the how to’s and they’re still not seeing results. They don’t believe in what’s possible and avoid grit, belief, and determination, instead they throw in the towel and go back to their 9-5 that they hated.

To be completely honest, and before I go on any further know I’m not pointing this out to make it about me, I’m sharing to show you the truth in success; I work with a lot of highly successful entrepreneurs and I believe this is why they stand out. It’s not because they know more, it’s because of how they approach everything that they do.

Let’s visit that again, it’s not because they know more it’s because of how they approach everything that they do. This is why they achieve success in business.

If something doesn’t work out, it doesn’t derail them. They use it as a time to get creative and explore what’s next. Some of the most brilliant ideas and solutions come when businesses are in a tough spot. The mind is a pretty resilient thing. It’s impressive to see how creative you can get when you’re a bit under pressure.

The first launch of the Abundantly Clear Podcast definitely didn’t reach a top 100 rated show like it is now. It was far from it. I launched it and blew it up, not in a good way. I don’t mean getting millions of downloads. The world of podcasting was brand new to me. If I was going to make this work I had to take another approach.

Time, money, effort, all to… start over. I wasn’t excited about this, but I’m glad it happened. I tried something and it was a flop, so what. The second go round was vastly different, but I had to go through to challenge to learn. 

You can’t make something not working define you as a person.

I had the choice to get stuck in my head and call myself a failure. I didn’t take that route, because I knew those things weren’t true.

Well, I guess they’re true if we think they’re true, but the point is you have a choice to think different. You get to decide what’s true and what isn’t. You might be thinking certain things are true right now that just down right aren’t.

Your circumstances don’t define you. You define you. 

Entrepreneurs get stuck when they make events in their business define their worthiness of who they are and what they’re capable of. Their inner dialogue sounds like it’s the voice of the worst ex they ever dated and they don’t know how to turn it off.

Make sense? 

I know you know what I’m talking about. If you haven’t experienced it, you know someone who has.  

Businesses don’t make money because personal inner dialogue is running the show the wrong way.

We are constantly stuck in the cycle of thinking our to do list is the exact thing that’s going to bring us money. We’re not addressing the real problem; our mindset, lack of grit, the negative belief system keeps us from achieving business success.

It’s time to start separating self from events. 

What do I mean by this? 

When was the last time you blamed yourself harshly or doubted the future of your business because something didn’t go the way you hoped? Kind of like how my podcast didn’t go the way I wanted the first time.

When is the last time you let your inner dialogue sound like the voice or your own terrible ex? 

By the way, if that doesn’t resonate with you, then consider yourself the minority, almost everyone I know has at least one. 

Is there something that happened recently, possibly even last week or this morning as you were drinking your coffee? Did you notice you were feeling a bit more overwhelmed than you wish to admit?

Every time you doubt yourself, you miss out on opportunities. 

Opportunities create money. Business owners that know this, achieve financial success.

What I’m saying is; if you’re doubting yourself, you’re missing out on achieving the success in business you desire.

This is why the check lists mean nothing if you aren’t approaching it from a belief system of grit and determination.

If you take the to do list, try everything, don’t see results quickly, and let it derail you, you’re absolutely going to hate being a business owner. But, the thing is, I don’t think that’s you because you’re reading this which means you’re looking for growth. 

The first key is to learn to not let the things that have happened in the past define your perception of yourself limiting you from moving forward.

The events that happened, either past or present, they don’t define you. If you feel like you’ve screwed some stuff up in your business, or you’re still shaming yourself for how you should have done it, it’s time to let it go. It’s time to move on, and it’s time to start a clean slate for your potential. 

Now that we’ve gone over what’s actually required to create success, It’s time to identify your blindspots so that you know exactly what you need to focus on moving forward.. One of the quickest ways to get mindset results is to have someone else help you.
